What happens if someone cares for more than four (4) unrelated children without a license?

Providing unlicensed child care for more than 4 children, who are not *related to the provider, is against the law in Missouri. If the Section for Child Care Regulation receives a complaint that someone is caring for more than four (4) unrelated children, an investigation will be conducted. If SCCR determines that they are providing care to more than four (4) unrelated children, SCCR will have them immediately reduce their number of children in care to four (4) or fewer to comply with Missouri law. Parents of the children will be notified. Legal referrals may also be made to the local prosecuting attorney for further action.
