What is H3N2v?

H3N2v is a variant of H3N2 influenza virus that has recently infected some people in the United States. This virus does not usually infect people. It is very different from human seasonal H3N2 viruses. Most of the recent cases have been in children (under 18 years of age) who have had direct or indirect contact with pigs.
