What is the difference between my CNA certificate being inactive and expired?
Certified Nurse
Assistant (CNA)
Your CNA certificate is considered inactive if the register shows a two (2) year break in employment in the provision of nursing services. Your CNA certificate is considered expired if the register shows a five (5) year break in employment in the provision of nursing services. If your certificate is inactive you may challenge the examination to obtain active status. If your certificate is expired you may be required to retake the course to obtain active status.
